A very popular and Star wildlife destination is Brazil’s wilderness. Although this is the land of extreme wet and dry seasons, the country probably has the highest number of surviving species.
Brazil has the World’s largest Wetland called the Pantanal which has a very high abundance of wildlife. Capybara, Caiman, Piranhas and the Jaguar are some of the largest populations and are easy to spot here.
The Amazon of course is quite famed for its dense rainforest (covers 60% of Brazil) and rare and endemic animal, bird and reptile species. This huge rainforest that covers half of land mass of South America also has the second longest river, the Amazon River. The Amazon is still undiscovered, with new species being found till date. There are also some native tribes here that probably are unaware of any other human existence.
Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world. The official language is Portugese and its capital is Brasilia. Brazilian people are as vibrant and diverse as the forest and its inhabitants and have descended from different parts of the world. They are extremely cosmopolitan and are known to be great hosts.
There are several International flights going to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro from India, which are the main starting points of all trips. Sao Paulo flights however seem to be more economical and better connected at the moment. Depending on which program you choose domestic flights can be taken accordingly to the program. If you want to see wildlife, Pantanal is where you should be. With high abundance of animals and birds(probably the highest concentration) and a beautiful setting of rivers and mountains, this undoubtedly is one of our favourite wildlife destinations. Pantanal (Panato means swamp in Portugese) has the world’s largest wetland area. This is probably the best place to observe the food chain, from planktons to predators, all in one place. Due to ease of access and abundance of wildlife, northern Pantanal is our choice to visit in Pantanal. Northern Pantanal is slightly higher than the Southern Pantanal and is also a little drier. Monsoons is the best time to visit Northern Pantanal, as its beauty is at its maximum and sightings are also good. It is otherwise a year round destination. The highway to the Park is made of a 100 wooden bridges, making it the highway with the most bridges in the world! The Elusive Jaguar is the most sought sighting in this Area and with a little extra effort, this cat doesn’t disappoint.
ACCESS :We need to fly into Sao Paoulo or Rio de Janeiro on an International flight. Several flights are available in India. We then fly into Cuiaba on any of the following domestic flights. Avianca Brasil, TAM Linhas Aereas and Azul Airlines have daily connections to Cuiaba.
Then by road to Pocone, the start of the Transpantaneira Highway, with the 100 wooden bridges and the only road running through the region, that winds south some 145km (90 miles) to Porto Joffre. This drive also provides great opportunities for wildlife viewing due to water ditches on either side of the road. The end of the highway leads to the not so easy path to watch Jaguars in the wild!

WILDLIFE :Pantanal is known to have the largest populations of Jaguar in the world. Other predators found are the Ocelot, maned wolf and the yellow anaconda.
The rare marsh deers and the giant otters are a common site here. Other animals found are the Capybaras, Caiman, red footed tortoise, the gold tegu, green iguana, peccarys, hyacinth macaws, crowned solitary eagle amongst 1000 bird species, 400 fish species, 300 mammalian species, 480 reptile species and over 9000 different subspecies of invertebrates.

The Amazon rainforest is the world’s largest tropical, with thousands of rivers flowing through it. The Amazon rainforest covers most of northwestern brazil and extends into Peru, Colombia and a few more south American countries. We would like to take you to the Manaus region of Brazilian Amazon famed for its abundant wildlife and Indians.
ACCESS :American Airlines, Air France, Etihad Airways and KLM have through flights from India all the way to Manaus International airport with 2 stops. However there are several multiple airline flights as well. You need to chose as per your convenience and budgets. From Manaus the lodge is a 3 hour land or a 6 hour river journey.

WILDLIFE:The Amazon has the highest concentration of plant and animal species in the World! More than a quarter of the world’s species are found at the Amazon! More than 1500 birds, 430 animal, 400 Reptiles, 5600 hundred fishes and thousands and thousands of trees and plants adorn this wet forest.
Capybara, the largest rodent in the world(can weigh upto 91 kgs), Dolphins, Sloths, armadillos, Tapir, Monkeys and of course the elusive Jaguar are amongst the many species of mammals found here.
Scarlet,Green, blue and yellow Macaws, Masked trogon, Harpy eagle, Toucans and several species of amazon parrots are some bird species migrating and inhabiting here.
Green Iguanas, Caimans, anole lizard, tree snakes, yellow footed tortoise and side necked turtle species are some of the reptiles found. Several amphibians including the giant monkey frog are also part of the Great Amazon.
