A valid passport and visa is required to enter Iceland. One needs to directly apply through VFS Global at the Danish Embassy for a visa to Iceland. Iceland is part of the Schengen Agreement. Following are the requirements

Documents
1) A Passport issued within ten years from and valid for at least three months after completion of the journey.
2) A duly completed and signed Schengen visa application form. File your application minimum 30 days prior to your planned tour to Iceland.
3) Travel tickets to collect visa.
4) 2 photographs.
5) Medical Insurance.
6) Demand Draft with the required visa fess

Other tourist specific Documents are:
• A detailed itinerary
• Flight and hotel reservation
• Proof of employment , studies and leave of absence
• Proof of sufficient funds, such as a copy of a recent bank statement

The Icelandic monetary unit is the krona (plural kronur) and is usually abbreviated as ISK or kr.
Coins are in denominations of: 100, 50, 10, 5 and 1 kr.
Bank notes are in denominations of: 10000, 5000, 2000, 1000 and 500 kr.
Visa and MasterCard are accepted almost universally, and ATMs are generally not hard to find. Iceland uses the chip-and-pin (EMV) system, which requires a 4-digit PIN for card purchases. If you only have the "swipe and sign" cards, you may wish to inquire about getting a chip-card from your bank or a major credit card issuer before travelling.
All major currencies can be exchanged at the airport, banks and currency exchanges in Iceland. It is advisable to exchange all ISK before leaving Iceland and also carry enough foreign currency to exchange the same in Iceland as you may not get ISK in a foreign country. Foreign currency exchange is available at Keflavik International Airport and all banks around the country. Remember, however, that banks are closed on weekends and open from 9:15 to 16:00 during the week. Exchange services outside regular banking hours are also available at Landsbankinn in Keflavík Airport during the hours of 05:30-8:30 and 13:00 - 17:00 (downstairs) or 05:30-17:00 (upstairs - departure hall)

The Wildlifer recommends travel between May to mid July for birdwatching and whalewatching and December to March to spot Icelandic mammals and a chance to see Northern lights.

Phone and internet connectivity is good as Majority of the Icelanders use the same. However service in remote regions may be restricted.

Iceland is considered to be one of the safest countries in the world, with crime rates virtually non-existent. Health facilities are very excellent and an ambulance or police car is just a call away(dial 112 for both).

The local electricity supply is 230 volts AC, 50HZ. However it is advisable to carry a converter as plug points may be different.
