Kamchatka – 10nts/11days

Kamchatka, a land of volcanoes and brown bears is a beautiful and a very rare site. 19 of these volcanoes constitute the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its fish laden rivers are a huge attraction for around 220 species of birds, several animals and Anglers.
During the tour you will visit some unique places in Kamchatka: Dvukhyurtochnoye Lake where you can watch brown bears fishing, white-shouldered eagles, salmon moving and spawning.
You will cross Kamchatka from south to north and going from one climatic zone to another you will get to Central Kamchatka where the largest volcanoes of Europe and Asia are located. You will visit the area with the most intensive volcano activity on the territory of Russia.
You can ascend Plosky Tolbachik volcano (3085m) as well as the new volcanoes – cones (299m and 278m) of North Breakthrough of 1975. You will walk about the Dead Forest destroyed during the eruption that ravaged a vast territory. You can see the wonderful Geyser Valley.
You will take a boat trip round Avacha Bay and the Pacific; admire Kamchatka's largest sea bird colonies.

During the tour you get to swim several times in natural hot springs and thermal water pools.

Day 1
PETROPAVLOVSK

Meeting at the airport, transfer to Petropavlovsk (25 km). Accommodation at a hotel "Petropavlovsk" (DBL), free time. Transfer to Paratunka. Swimming in the thermal water pool.

Day 2
PETROPAVLOVSK

Free day. On this day it is possible to go on a helicopter excursion to Geyser Valley and Uzon Caldera, fly over Karymsky volcano (1486m) and Maly Semyachik volcano (1560m) or take a boat trip to the Avacha Bay with the exit to the Pacific ocean. Return to the city in the evening.

Day 3
KOZYREVSK

Vehicle transfer to Kozyrevsk village (500km), bathing in Malki hot springs on the way, lunch in Milkovo village. Accommodation in private tourist camp in wooden houses. Russian classic banya.

Day 4
VOLCANOES AND BEAR OBSERVATION

Helicopter flight to Dvukhyurtochnoye Lake. Arrival at the touristic base located at the hot springs (40 minutes). During the flight, if the weather is good, you can see Alney and Chashakondzha volcanoes. Accommodation in wooden cabins 2 pax per room. Free time, swimming in the thermal water pool. Lunch. Walking to the Dvukhyurtochnaya river (600 metres). Bear observation.

Day 5
BEAR WATCHING

Bear watching and rune course salmon. Salmon fishing on the lake. Boating on the lake. Radial walk by thermal stream, a mountain plateau, bathing in the healing hot springs. Enjoy red caviar and fresh-caught fish.

Day 6
BEAR WATCHING

Bear watching and rune course salmon. After lunch helicopter trip to Kozyrevsk village. Transfer to the base of the most beautiful volcanic massif formed by Ostry and Plosky Tolbachik volcanoes (90km, 4hr). If the weather allows it, on the way you can enjoy a view on the highest volcanoes of Kamchatka: Krestovsky (4057m), Ushkovsky (3943m), Klyuchevskoy (4750m), Kamen (4579m), Plosky Tolbachik (3085m) and Ostry Tolbachik (3672m). The camp where you will spend the night is called “Moonwalkers’ base”. Overnight in tents.

Day 7
TOLBACHIK

All day exploration of the consequences of the volcano’s eruption in 2013 (“young” cone, great lava flows and lava caves, stone sculptures and heaps of hardened lava).

Day 8
TOLBACHIK

Vehicle transfer to North Breakthrough (18km). Ascent to the new Tolbachik cones, miniature volcanoes that only reach a height of 100-200 meters. Vehicle transfer to South Breakthrough (15km). Walk to the cones of South Breakthrough and the Dead Forest destroyed by slag and ash eruptions in 1975. Return to the camp. Overnight in tents.

Day 9
PETROPAVLOVSK

Returning to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Early transfer (580 km) to the hotel. Stop and lunch in Milkovo on the way. Accommodation in the hotel "Petropavlovsk". Rest.

Day 10
PETROPAVLOVSK

Day 11
PETROPAVLOVSK
