Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre - It is the largest Orang-utan Rehabilitation Centre in the world. The centre is a great opportunity to learn about the Rainforests and their wildlife, the highlight of course being the Orang-Utans. Orang-Utans which when translated in Malay mean the Man of the Forest. They can probably seen the closest in this natural habitat. The centre takes care of the abandoned Orang-utans and prepares them for the wild. Many other species are found in the centre, providing an opportunity to get up close and personal with them.

Sukau - Sukau is beautifully located on the lower banks of the Kinabatangan River and borders the Kinabatangan Wildlife sanctuary. The Kinabatangan river seems never ending with a length of 560kms and is rich in Borneo’s primates, mainly 10 in number that include the Proboscis Monkey, Maroon Langur and the Borneon Gibbon that are endemic to Borneo.

Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary - The never ending Kinabatangan river slithers through the sanctuary supporting a very rich and diverse flora and fauna. Located in the lower basin of the Borneon Rainforest, this Sanctuary is probably the most concentrated in wildlife. Over 200 species of birds, including 8 Bornean hornbills, Storm’s Stork, Bornean ground cuckoo and several other unique and endangered species that include 10 primates, crocodiles, otters, pygmy elephants, clouded leopard and flat headed cat.

Gomantang Caves - The Caves are a limestone outcrop, home to the edible birds. It has in fact been awarded as the best managed edible birds’ nest cave in the world by World Wildlife Fund. These birds share their home with bats and several insects that thrive on the rich bat guano on the floor. The caves also shelter several birds and mammals. The caves have been divided into two- Simud Hitam(Black Cave) and Simud Putih(White Cave).The lush green rainforest around the caves is rich in Bornean flora and fauna.

Destinations – Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre, Sukau, Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary, Gomantong, Danum Valley.

DAY 1
On arrival at Sandakan Airport, transfer to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Walk ten minutes through the rainforest on wooden boardwalks to witness the feeding of the orang utans at 1000hrs, and then proceed to watch a video show.
After lunch, transfer to Sandakan jetty for 2½ hours boat journey to the multi awards winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge along Sabah's longest river, Kinabatangan with opportunity to view birds and wildlife. Take a river cruise using electric motor in search of wildlife and birds. Enjoy candle light dinner overlooking the riverbank followed by slide show and interpretation by naturalist guide. Stay overnight at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge. (Lunch & Dinner)

DAY 2 : SUKAU
Take a 0600hrs morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife. After breakfast, proceed for an educational tour along our Hornbill Boardwalk located behind the lodge with our in-house naturalist. In the afternoon, we proceed for another river cruise for more wildlife. Stay overnight at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

DAY 3 : SUKAU - GOMANTONG - BORNEO RAINFOREST LODGE
Proceed 27 km overland to Gomantong Caves. Trek 20 minutes through the rainforest to the cave entrance to learn about the cave faunas including bats, swiftlets and crabs among others. When in season, witness the collecting of birds' nests by the local people.
Proceed 2 hours overland to Lahad Datu for lunch. Drive 83km to the award winning nature lodge, Borneo Rainforest Lodge. Explore nature trail and nearby river. In the evening a slide show and if weather permits we go spotlighting to view some of the nocturnal animals. Stay overnight at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

DAY 4 : BORNEO RAINFOREST LODGE
Early morning birdwalk before breakfast. Spend the whole day exploring the forest for birds and mammals, leading up to an escarpment with ancient burial coffins. Trek to waterfall for refreshing dip in rock pools. Lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, explore more trails leading to canopy walkway. Stay overnight at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

DAY 5 : TRANSFER OUT
Morning Trek in search of mammals and birds. Return to the Lodge before departing for Lahad Datu. Take the afternoon flight back to Kota Kinabalu. (Breakfast & Lunch)
Please bring along swim wear, towels, sun block lotion, personal toiletries, drinking water bottle, insect repellent, torchlight, hat, binoculars, leech sock, walking shoes & raincoat.
